Starting over

In 1997 I decided I wanted to learn web design. With the help of a talented teenaged friend, I began with the basics and learned as I went along.

The ways things were done in those days isn’t the way they’re done today. The desktop software I used in the 20th century is totally out of date. All web design now is on line using much different methods than I learned way back then. I had reached the point where I couldn’t easily update my old web. So after a lot of pondering, I decided to start all over again. I love learning new things, and at my advanced age (77 at this writing), that learning is vital to my well-being and growth. And it’s fun!

The new build will take a long time. I had over 700 pages on my original web. I am picking and choosing which sections merit a complete redesign, which can be pared down, and which can go away altogether. I’m also deciding what I want this web to be. And I’m doing this blog, called the Speakeasy. We’ll see how it goes.
