Annie’s Place

This section of our web is dedicated to our daughter Annie. When I was a brand-new web designer back in 1997, Annie’s Place was the first section I built, learning as I went along. My inspiration was this remarkable girl who came to me as a “bonus daughter” when I married her father. And the event which pushed me to this labor of love was a horrible moment in our lives—Annie’s murder at the hands of her abusive ex-boyfriend. On that subject, read all the details in The Crime section below. First, though, let’s focus on our Annie.

July 15, 1976–July 4, 1997

At the age of two, this strong-minded young lady declared “Me Annie!” and that’s the way it’s been ever since. Annie was born at 2:15 a.m. in Decatur, Georgia, on July 15, 1976, just a few days after our nation had celebrated its bicentennial. When she was less than a week old, she met Miss Lillian Carter, who was on the Presidential campaign trail for her son Jimmy. Miss Lillian took one look at Annie and cried “Give me that beautiful baby!” Miss Lillian was not only a savvy politician, but certainly a fine judge of babyhood as well. And look how gorgeous that baby turned out!
