50th anniversary quilt, old and new. In 1987 a friend in Maine gave my mother several nine-patch blocks pieced by anonymous hands with prints from the 1930s. By trimming the corners on 48 of them and combining them with prints of the 1980s, she was able to make this quilt. Since she was married in 1939, there is a link between the old fabrics of that time and the quilt's completion in 1989, the year of her 50th wedding anniversary.
This quilt belonged to my cousin Allen.
