After leaving Mexico in 1975, the Longs visited Anne’s brother Fred and his family in Libya, where Fred was working for an oil company. From there they made a leisurely journey northward, spending some time in this lovely seaside town in the south of France. These paintings were made in 1976 from drawings of that trip. Both of the Collioure paintings were gifts from Bob Long to his son-in-law Ed. They hang in Ed’s bedroom here at Cactus Hill.
