Chicago’s famous lakefront at Oak Street Beach. Believe me, this is how it looks and feels on a cold day—bracing, to say the least. 

This painting was made in the early 1960s, when Chicago’s skyline was vastly different from today’s. Notice Navy Pier at the far left, long before it had a Ferris wheel. And there’s no Hancock Center yet.
