BC's Annie was born to be a star

A star is born: Annie Born of Boulder Creek is certainly shining bright these days as she was recently selected to be the San Lorenzo Valley High School ambassador at the Hugh O'Brian Youth Foundation (HOBY) this coming May.

The Northern California Leadershp Seminar, taking place at Notre Dame College, is an annual event which selects outstanding sophomore leaders from state high schools. Annie [was chosen] for her leadership skills demonstrated in her church youth group, plays, sports, and Friday Night Live club. (I imagine her winning grades must have played a role in her nomination as well!)

"I really feel honored," Annie said. "I know a lot of people wanted it, and I feel really lucky. It's a great opportunity to learn and to meet new people." And undoubtedly, they'll be happy to meet this talented ambassador, too!

Annie is being sponsored for this key event by the Kiwanis Club of San Lorenzo Valley, and chairperson, Nola Hall of Boulder Creek, who explained HOBY's vision surrounding the proceedings.

"(Its) purpose is to seek out, recognize and develop high school sophomores who exhibit leadership potential by conducting annual leadership training workshops at the state and international level," she said.

This year's theme, "America's Incentive System," consists of panels composed of community leaders in business, media, government, space and foreign relations.
